SMMA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Every member of our board of directors is a volunteer of SMMA. Each one is a thought leader that brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our association. Their hard work and generous contributions are essential to the Sobrato and Murphy music programs.
Greg Chambers
CEO/Band Director
Mr. Chambers started as Band Director for Ann Sobrato High School and Martin Murphy Middle School in 2014. He not only teaches two band programs at two schools during the day, but he also directs several programs after school such as Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Winter Percussion. Greg also serves as CEO of SMMA.
Mr. Chambers is also a professional musician and top charting saxophonist. His most recent album "A New Day" launched in July 2018 and was a huge success with rave reviews, you can find it on Amazon and iTunes. But I am pretty sure if you asked Mr. Chambers he would say, the greatest of his successes to date, would have to be the birth of his beautiful son Owen.
Jill Provencal
President
Jill is a local realtor with the Van Dahlen Dunne Group at Compass (DRE# 02109071). She is also mom, problem solver, rustie flutist/vocalist and craft enthusiast.
Her oldest daughter Alexis graduated in 2026 from Sobrato. She started at Martin Murphy and finished as flute first chair in wind ensemble. Emily, her youngest, now in 10th grade is a percussionist and marching band section leader at Sobrato.
Jill loves watching her daughters and fellow students express themselves through music. Jill joined SMMA to support the organization in their efforts to provide a positive musical experience for our local youth.
Kristy Vickerman
Vice President
Kristy is an elementary school teacher in the district and has worked in Morgan Hill Unified for four years. Aside from teaching, she is also a mother, likes to organize and clean, enjoys cooking, traveling, and entertaining.
Her daughter Lila plays in Sobrato's Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. She also has a younger daughter, Inara, who likes to play soccer and does hip-hop dance. Most of the time Inara has to tag along to all the band events and considers herself a mini band booster.
It is almost as if Kristy was destined to become a band booster, as she has been married to a band director for over 23 years. She has seen first hand how hard band directors work and how much time, effort and support they need from their booster program to help the students succeed. Kristy loves being a part of a "band family" as it is very rewarding. You end up having other "kids" to cheer and root for throughout their high school years in band, as well as your own. Additionally, making friends with the other parents is an added bonus as well!
